Delta Discount Program

What kind of discount can I expect?

- Delta offers a discount ranging from 2%-10%, depending on the class of airfare selected (note- some classes are not eligible for discounts).
- If 20 or more people are traveling for a meeting/event, you would be eligible to use Delta Edge Meeting and can possibly take advantage of deeper discounts. Contact your travel agent or the contract administration for more information about using this program prior to booking any tickets.

Who can use the program?

- The program discount is offered to Higher Education employees booking only for business travel.  Delta does offer exclusive Delta Vacation packages for private travel of ND Higher Education Employees.  This offer applies when booking flight and hotel. For more information visit Delta Vacations and submit the corporate promo code which can be found on the State Contract Site by searching for "Travel - Delta Air Fare Discounts" > "View" the Contract > "View" Delta Vacation Discount.

How do I get the discount?

- You must establish a Delta SkyMiles number. If you don’t already have one, the setup instructions above will allow you to create one. After the initial setup, you will be able to access the discounts by logging into Delta.com or the Delta app using your SkyMiles account.

Can I use a travel agent?

- Yes, you can use a travel agent; however, they must complete an ATPCO Form with Delta in order to pass the discount to you. The list of Travel Agents already approved to Offer Discounts can be found on the State Contract Site by searching for "Travel - Delta Air Fare Discounts" > "View" the Contract >"View" Attachment 1 - Travel Agents Offering Discount. If you do not see a specific travel agent in the list, please contact the Procurement Officer for information on getting them setup. There is no fee for them to complete the form.  It would be a good idea to remind your travel agent that the State is eligible for the Negotiated Rate so they don’t forget when booking your tickets.

Can I use purchasing sites such as Travelocity, Expedia, Orbitz, etc.?

- You will not be able to take advantage of this discount if booking through these sites. The only time the discount will be applied is if you book via the “Delta Discount Program” or via a travel agent – see note above regarding the use of a travel agent.

If I book a flight using the “Delta Discount Program” will I still earn miles in accordance with the SkyMiles program?

- Yes, you will still earn miles when booking flights through this discount program. You must create a SkyMiles number when booking your flight to be eligible for the discount.

Who do I contact if I have issues accessing the “Delta Discount Program”?

Can I book hotels and car rentals through the “Delta Discount Program”?

- No, hotel and car rentals are not linked to the Delta Discount Program.  See the Delta Vacation Discount offereing document for exclusive offers for personal travel for State of ND employees.

Do I have to book travel through Delta or can I use other airlines?

- You are not required to book flights with Delta; however, if you do use Delta you will need to access the Delta Discount Program to receive the discount or through a travel agency (see note above about using travel agents.)

CAUTION: Effective November 16, 2021 - The discount is only available for business travel and no longer allows for personal travel discounts. There is a Delta Vacation Packages Discount Option available for personal travel.

Setup Instructions:

Screenshots below show access to the Negotiated Price. You can access the program on any device, including the Delta app (you will find the Business Travel option after setup and by clicking on Book in the app). 

NOTE: After setup, you no longer need to access inside.NDUS to obtain the discount. Just go to Delta.com and log into your SkyMiles account or by clicking on Book in the app.

FIRST SETUP FOR USING THE DISCOUNT:

- For setting up the Delta Discount Program you must access the Delta EDP link within inside.NDUS. Scroll down the to the bottom of the page to access the link. Enter your work email address and click Validate Email.

- You should receive an email from business.experience@delta.com.

It may take a few minutes for the email to arrive. Check your junk mail if you don’t see it. In the email, click the button to accept the invitation.  A web page will open and it will then ask for your Name and SkyMiles Number. If you haven’t created one, it will allow you to enroll at this point.  You will need to check Accept Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. Legal counsel have reviewed both terms. Our Master Agreement covers and overrides them. Click Register Now.

- This will open the Delta.com website. Log into your account and you will be prompted with a screen similar to what is listed below. For the discount, you MUST select Business Travel.

- Follow the screen to enter your travel info and click the red arrow pointing to the right to search.

- After searching, the following screen will appear. Be sure you are seeing “Negotiated Fare” below the pricing. Note that some flights are not eligible for the Negotiated Fare.

- Select the Flight by hovering over and clicking the rate displayed. You will be prompted to select the outbound and return (if applicable) flight (see figure above).

- Follow the remainder of the screens to book your ticket.  Should you want to jump back to personal travel, you can toggle by going to the upper right-hand corner and selecting the drop-down.

This is available on any screen within Delta.com.
